Examples of Conditions treated and treatments we use at LifeSpeed

Aquatic Therapy
When you are in the water, you weigh less than on land. Water supports the body, decreases pain in the joints, and gives you help with movement. Moving in the water is easier. When you use the water for therapy, you can improve your ability to get around, increase your strength, and heal faster. At LifeSpeed we have a custom made Endless Pool. Our Endless Pool has jets that you can swim or walk against, an underwater treadmill, shallow and deep water, mirrors, and cameras. Your therapist will work with you in the water to help you get back to normal.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the nerve that runs from your arm into your hand, becomes pressed or squeezed. Problems occur like burning, tingling, itching, or numbness in your hand and fingers. Problems can also occur at night. Your hand may get weak. It may be harder to hold things. Carpal tunnel syndrome may be caused by having a small wrist, getting hurt, having a disease, doing the same things over and over, vibration, or pregnancy. Sometimes the cause is not known. Your therapist will show you how to reduce the pain, increase strength, and return to normal activities without surgery. If you have to have surgery, therapy can help after surgery.

CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on way of testing and helping the body work better. The Craniosacral system surrounds our brain and spinal cord. Your therapist will use light touch to help you body work better on the inside and help you body heal itself faster.

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis
De Quervain’s is caused by swelling in your writs around the thumb. The most common problem is pain and swelling near the base of your thumb. Pinching or making a fist makes the pain worse. The most common cause is using your thumb and wrist too much. If you see your doctor and therapist early, you will have the best chance of getting rid of the problem. Your therapist will show you ways to decrease your pain, increase your strength, and get you back to normal.

Ergonomic Assessment
Work environments are changing very quickly. The work place is more efficient and specialized. These changes have led to more pain and injuries. Your therapist can look at where you work in order to help keep you from getting hurt.

Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive capsulitis)
Frozen shoulder is characterized by pain and stiffness in your shoulder joint. We do not know why you get frozen shoulder, but it can occur after getting hurt. If your shoulder is not moved enough after surgery or getting hurt, it may become frozen. Your therapist will work with you in order to decrease your pain and get your shoulder moving again. Therapy will allow you to get back to normal.

Rotator Cuff Injury
Your rotator cuff is made up of four muscles. Rotator cuff injuries are fairly common. The most common problem is pain when you move. Other problems include weakness, less movement, and not wanting to move your arm. Rotator cuff injuries are caused by normal wear and tear, bad posture, falling, lifting or pulling, and doing the same thing over and over. Your therapist will show you ways to decrease your pain, increase your movement, increase strength, and get you back to normal. Rotator cuff injuries may need shots or surgery.

Golfer’s Elbow (medial epicondylitis)
Golfer’s elbow is similar to tennis elbow, but it occurs on the inside instead of the outside of your elbow. Playing golf is one cause of golfer’s elbow, but other things can also cause golfer’s elbow. Golfer’s elbow happens when the muscles of your arm pull too much on the elbow. Golfer’s elbow causes pain and tenderness on the inner side of your elbow. Your elbow may feel stiff and hurt to make a fist. Your hand or wrist can get weak. Your therapist will show you ways to decrease your pain, increase strength, and return normal activities. Surgery is rarely needed.

Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
Many things can cause tennis elbow, including playing tennis. Tennis elbow happens when the muscles of your arm pull too much on the outside of your elbow. Tennis elbow causes pain from the elbow to the wrist. Your pain gets worse when your wrist is moved or bumped. Your hand may get weak. In addition to playing tennis, other motions can cause tennis elbow, such as using a screwdriver, hammering, painting, raking, weaving, typing, etc. Your therapist will show you how to decrease your pain, increase strength, and return a person to normal activities. Surgery is rarely needed.
